The Council of the Geological Society have requested amendments to the Constitution's of Regional Groups. The new Constitution brings our reporting schedule into line with that of other regional groups of the Society (with respect to timing of AGMs, Annual Reports etc.) references to the old Regional Groups Committee have been replaced by those to the new Regional Groups Co-ordination Committee (a sub-Committee of the Professional Standing Committee) and a new section (Section 6) has been added to clarify our role in relation to the RGCC, and to reflect the way we are now liaising with other regional groups. Minor changes to terminology have been made, e.g. the Honorary prefixes for Secretary and Treasurer are dropped and Chairperson becomes Chairman. Otherwise, the composition and size of the Committee does not change. With the addition of the new Section 6, later Sections in the original Constitution have been renumbered. In addition, Section 8 as was (RULES), has been renamed Section 9 (DECLARATION).

Draft Constitution

Following the agreement of the meeting held on the 8th May, 20001 at the GEO, a Committee was elected and the first Committee meeting was held on 16th May, 2001.
